About The Oasis Daycare

The Oasis Daycare is located in The Oasis Bridge building (10124 – 101 Avenue), between The Oasis Fellowship and The Oasis Centre. The daycare offers full time care for children ages 19 months to 6 years old during the day in Grande Prairie.

Our mission for the daycare is to provide a consistent, loving, and secure environment to support parents in meeting the emotional, spiritual, and physical needs of their children.

We believe that:

  • God created each child with special talents and abilities and we strive to build each child’s self-worth by encouraging and embracing these.
  • ALL children are valuable and unique and deserve to be treated with love and respect and given the opportunity to create and develop healthy relationships with their peers and with the adults around them.
  • Play is one of the most important ways children learn, and they must be allowed to do so in a safe and healthy environment that allows them to be creative, stimulated, curious and appropriately challenged.
  • Each child is a valuable and contributing member of this daycare, their family and community and this will be shown by giving them age appropriate responsibilities, and encouraging self-help skills and independence.
  • Children feel safe and secure when they have a routine and know what to expect.
  • Family connections are vital to a child’s success in our program and open communication between parents and our centre is encouraged, and parents are welcome to visit the classrooms.

2.0 Admissions

2.1 Admission and Discharge Policy

An interview will be arranged to familiarize the parents and child(ren) with the surroundings, answer questions, and complete the required admission forms prior to enrollment.  A non-refundable $100 deposit per child will be required at registration to hold the space. Parents are encouraged to stay with their child(ren) at the beginning of the day to reassure him/her/them and minimize fears until he/she/them becomes more comfortable in the centre.

2.2 Termination of Care By Parent

30 days written notice is required prior to a child’s discharge.  In most cases, termination is due to reasons like relocation, the child entering school etc.  However, we understand that not every situation is appropriate for every child.  If, for any reason, our daycare is found unsatisfactory for a child, we will make every effort to discuss this with the parent(s) in order to determine the cause.  Sometimes we can help the child make the adjustment, however if this is not possible, the parent and/or daycare may choose to terminate the arrangement on a timeline that is in the child’s best interest. The Oasis Daycare will retain the child’s records for two years, in accordance with the Province of Alberta Child Care Licensing Act, Child Care Licensing Regulation.

2.3 Termination of Care By Daycare

As stated above the child’s adjustment to the Daycare and the appropriateness of this particular care arrangement for an individual child may cause concern for the child’s well being. If the Daycare staff does not feel they are meeting the child’s needs, we reserve the right to terminate the care arrangement on a timeline that is in the child’s best interest. Other reasons, which may result in the termination of a specific care arrangement, are as follows:

  1. Non-payment for child care services.
  2. Lack of cooperation from parents with the Daycare’s effort to resolve differences and/or to meet the child’s needs through parent/staff meetings or conferences.
  3. Abusive behaviors and/or verbal threats by parents towards Daycare staff or other parents.  This will result in immediate termination.
  4. Parents disciplining, in any way, children other than their own, at the Daycare.
  5. Parents disciplining their own children in an abusive manner like swearing and/or hitting.
  6. Child exhibits special need or needs related to serious illness that is not possible to meet at the Daycare. In this case, the Daycare staff will make every effort to involve the parents and possibly other resource persons (as appropriate), in order to decide together on the best course of action for the child, prior to termination.
  7. Failure to renew subsidy or provide required paper work which results in termination of subsidy.

There will be a late fee of $25.00 if the payment is made after the 1st of the month and $100 for payments not received 3 days after the 1st day of the month.

If payment is not received within five days of the due date, the program has the right to terminate care WITHOUT NOTICE. At this point the program will use whatever means necessary and allowable by law to collect the outstanding fees. The program will give parents/guardians with PAST DUE accounts every opportunity to pay off their account within a reasonable amount of time, and/or set up a payment plan suitable to both parent/guardians and the program. If an account must be sent to Collections- 30% (18% finance charges and 12% administration charges) of the balance will be added to the account to cover the cost for collection services.

Children will not be admitted to the daycare if fees are not up to date.  In order for the Daycare to operate fees must be paid promptly and regularly. All fees must be paid for the days and hours your child is registered to attend. If your child is absent, due to illness or other factors; full fees are still due. We do not refund or credit fees.

If there are special circumstances that may prevent this, please speak to the director.

When there is child care subsidy in place and it needs to be renewed for the following month, parents/guardians will ensure renewal occurs BEFORE the 1st of the month.
